Vacancy: Catering & Events Coordinator

Position Overview

We are a vibrant community-focused coworking business and events space with a small café and commercial kitchen. We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Catering and Events Coordinator to join our team and take charge of our culinary and event offerings. We are a close-knit team who help each other out when needed so we are looking for someone who is willing to integrate with the wider team to ensure the business runs smoothly.

As the Catering and Events Coordinator, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of our café and commercial kitchen, coordinating pop-up food events, and ensuring compliance with all relevant contracts and legislation. You will work closely with a supportive team to deliver exceptional dining experiences and memorable events.

This is a year-round and full-time hospitality role, with an opportunity to have a meaningful impact within a new business, supporting the overall ambitions of St Ives WS CIC and sustainable economic development within St Ives.

What you will do

Café and Kitchen Management

  • Oversee daily operations of the café and commercial kitchen.
  • Ensure high standards of food quality, presentation, and hygiene.
  • Manage inventory, ordering supplies, and maintaining equipment.

Event Coordination

  • Plan, organise, and execute pop-up food events.
  • Coordinate with chefs, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Develop event themes and suggest promotional materials for marketing.
  • Manage event budgets, timelines and logistics.

Contracts and Legislation

  • Technical and operational troubleshooting throughout the space.
  • Handle all contracts with vendors, suppliers, and event clients.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Stay updated on food safety and industry legislation.
  • Manage permits and licenses for events.

Customer Service

  • Provide excellent customer service in the café and during events.
  • Address customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints.
  • Maintain a welcoming and positive atmosphere.

Marketing and Promotions

Collaborate with the marketing team to develop promotional materials, café offerings and events through social media and other channels.

Operations

Collaborate with the operations team to assist with operations and cover the rota when required.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in catering, event coordination, or hospitality management.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and legislation. 
  • Excellent organisational and multitasking skills. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities. 
  • Creative problem-solving skills and attention to detail. 
  • Proficiency in managing budgets and financial records. 
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. 

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with pop-up events and innovative food concepts. 
  • Familiarity with contract management and vendor relations. 
  • Culinary background or passion for food and beverages.

Salary, Hours & Benefits

Salary: £22,500-£25,000 per annum (pro rata, if part-time)

Generous holiday: 30 days, plus 8 bank holidays per year (pro rata, if part-time).

Working Hours: up to 37.5 hours per week (usually Monday to Friday), including evenings and occasional weekends. We are open to this role being part-time or a job share. Please let us know if this would be preferable in your Cover Letter to us.
