Thinking outside the box! Local sourcing and sustainability at Bayspace

Apr 4, 2023

If the words ‘hot desk’ or ‘shared office space’ bring to mind soulless grey spaces and blank walls, Bayspace is here to redefine your impression of coworking! To do justice to this landmark building overlooking one of the most iconic views in the UK, we set out to make Bayspace a vibrant working environment, reflective of St Ives itself.

We’re busy carefully sourcing second-hand furniture, working with local suppliers, and collaborating with artisan makers to bring it to life.

We’ve spent the last few weeks choosing some brilliant suppliers for our café, including St Ives-based Foundation Coffee Roasters. Foundation is an independent, specialty coffee brand which works directly with coffee farms and mills where possible. Thanks to these local legends, our members and guests will enjoy high quality coffee, ethically sourced with minimal environmental impact – perfect fuel for busy working days!

The Member Café here at Bayspace will be open to the public for takeaway coffee, Monday – Friday, 8am – 3pm.

Members can enjoy their coffee served in bespoke mugs created by Porthleven-based ceramicist Jake Boex. Jake has created a range of beautiful, individual ceramics – no two are the same – with a vivid connection to the surrounding landscape and a distinctly tactile feel. We know they’ll be perfectly at home here at Bayspace, where the view from every window reaffirms our connection with the natural world.

Some of the team recently had a productive visit with Jake in his studio to finalize the details of the commission, and we can’t wait to take delivery of our Bayspace mugs.

There’s a real buzz around the building right now as our opening creeps ever closer – not long to wait now!
