Vacancy: Membership Manager

Full Job Description

The role of Membership Manager is an exciting opportunity to establish a vibrant community of member businesses at our upcoming workspace, Bayspace, due to open in the autumn of 2022. Set within a renovated and iconic Grade II listed building with spectacular views of St. Ives Bay, Bayspace will inspire creativity, connection with the local community and provide opportunities for both start-ups and well established businesses.

As the primary point of contact for our members, new and existing, you will utilise your excellent people skills to thrive when engaging with a broad range of individuals, businesses and organisations. In addition to your client-facing and sales responsibilities, you will have competent account management, communication and technical abilities. This is an opportunity to have a meaningful impact, supporting the overall ambitions of St Ives Workstation CIC and sustainable economic development within St Ives.

What you will do;

New Membership Sales

  • Lead Bayspace membership sales and building a vibrant member community.
  • First point of contact for all new membership enquiries, calls and workspace tours.
  • CRM; tracking deals, membership contracts and membership renewals.
  • Collaboratively develop sales materials to create an engaging sales experience through all new membership enquiries.
  • Iterate and improve membership offerings, based on sales feedback and data.
  • Align membership sales strategy with the broader goals of St Ives Workstation C.I.C.
  • Retain a finger on the pulse across the broader market, identifying new opportunities to attract members and develop our offering.

Community Management

  • Membership account management on our workspace management and CRM system, Nexudus.
  • Administrative and technical support on Nexudus, to develop the system to meet evolving needs.
  • Onboard new members, ensuring an exemplary member experience at Bayspace on their first day and beyond.
  • Regular catch-up meetings with members to gather feedback and identify potential support opportunities to enhance member experience.
  • Community engagement and social listening– keeping up with industry trends and membership requirements to plan, establish and implement member retention activities.
  • Collaboratively develop a progamme of internal learning, wellbeing and social events.
  • Create regular reports and identify solutions to improve membership benefits and services.

Communications & General Operations

  • Own internal membership communications – curate, write and send weekly newsletters to promote membership and services.
  • Communicate general member announcements across a range of channels, both on and offline.
  • Contribute to social media content through community insights and strong knowledge of member businesses.
  • Establish and oversee the use of Slack software to bring the Bayspace team together and facilitate idea sharing, decision making and problem solving.
  • Build sustainable relationships with community ambassadors, through membership and the local community.
  • General operational support throughout the workspace, including troubleshooting, front of house support and events coordination.

Personal Attributes

We are looking for a Membership Manager who is a true people-person, possessing a ‘can-do’ attitude and the capacity to genuinely engage with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders and the community to build long lasting relationships. Competent communicating through all means of communication, with the ability to remain calm and composed in varying scenarios.

You will be self-motivated, taking a flexible and competent approach to varying workloads. With an aptitude for creativity and negotiations, you have the ability to identify innovative opportunities for membership growth strategies.

Skills & Experience

It is essential that you have:

  • Experience in a customer-facing hospitality environment, with exemplary customer service skills.
  • A commercial mind-set with great numeracy skills and the capacity to negotiate.
  • Excellent communication abilities (written and oral.)
  • Competency with a range of software applications.
  • Competent knowledge of St Ives and locally surrounding areas and an awareness of stakeholders and probable partners, including local and entrepreneurial communities.

And it would be even better if you also have:

  • An understanding of co-working spaces, enterprise hubs, business incubation facilities, co-working and hybrid directions and business start-ups.
  • Specific communications experience; social media, blog writing or content creation.
  • Experience of working with software applications Slack and Nexodus or similar, with a demonstrable understanding of the systems and their application.

Hours, Salary and Benefits;

Salary: £25,000-£30,000 per annum

Generous holiday: 30 days, plus 8 bank holidays per year.

Flexibility: A degree of flexibility to working times is open to discussion.

Full time: 37.5 hours per week (Monday-Friday)
